The dark oolongs from Wuyishan are known as "rock teas" because of the granular soil the teas grow in, often deep in crevices with only indirect light available.
This "unique terroir" contributes to the genetic qualities of the leaves, and combines with the centuries-old processing technique developed in that region to produce legendary oolongs with aroma nuances of dried stone fruits like dried apricot or plum.
