Our Earl offers a robust aromatic Bergamot aroma and medium body leading to pleasant aftertaste that compels you to want more...lovely.

It was in 1830 that Earl is said to have a Chinese gentleman to find a solution to the Earl's Tea Problem...bad water. Apparently there was too much lime in the water giving the Earl's tea a peculiar aroma and flavor.

The solution was eventually found by adding the oil extracted from a Mediterranean citrus fruit called Bergamot and applying it to the tealeaves.

Bergamot is an oily substance extracted from the rind of a dwarf variety of the Seville Orange tree.

Guests of Howick Hall, the Earl's post were served the oil infused tea and were impressed with it's uniqueness. It did not take long for gusts to begin referring to the first Flavored Tea as Earl Grey Tea...
