In the Black Sea region, in Georgia, Chinese tea plants were planted and have adapted to the local terroir over the past 175+ years.
The DNA of the China tea variety yields a tea with some of the qualities we have come to know from China black tea...but certainly the unique growing conditions contribute to the teas distinct character...a black tea character all of its own.
